Classic pesto sauce


Classic Italian pesto sauce is prepared in a marble mortar. The secret of this sauce is in an amazing combination of two main ingredients: olive oil and basil.

To prepare a classic Italian sauce, you will need a wooden or marble mortar with a pestle and a blender.

  1. Peel the pine nuts and toast lightly in a pan.
  2. Then grind them in a mortar and grate the parmesan cheese. Blend nuts, cheese, basil leaves, and olive oil in a blender. It will be better if the mass is ground unevenly, interspersed with small pieces of basil and nuts. The sauce is ready!

It can be stored in the refrigerator in a glass jar for up to 5 days. For longer storage, place the sauce in the freezer.
