Baked macaroni and cheese

In this recipe, we’ll be making a delicious and filling dish – baked macaroni and cheese. We’ll use just a few ingredients you’ll likely have in your kitchen, and the entire process will only take about 30 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Pasta – 500 g;;
  • Cheese – 300 g;
  • Butter – 50 g;
  • Milk – 500 ml;
  • Flour – 30 g;
  • Salt – to taste;
  • Pepper – to taste;
  • Breadcrumbs – 50 g.

Directions:

  1. Start by preparing the pasta. In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook over medium heat until tender but not mushy. This will take about 10 minutes.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, prepare the sauce. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the flour and stir until smooth. Cook the sauce, stirring, for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the milk to the sauce and continue stirring until the mixture thickens. Once the sauce has thickened, add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Drain the pasta and place it in a large bowl. Add the sauce to the bowl with the pasta and stir until all the pasta is coated.
  5. Cut or grate the cheese. Then add the cheese to the bowl with the pasta and sauce. Stir everything together.
  6. Place the pasta, sauce, and cheese mixture in a baking dish. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
